My methods of working with the body have been shaped by life-long study and my own intuitive approach. As a young person, I trained in a variety of martial arts, including Karate, wrestling, boxing, Judo, Brazilian and Japanese Jui-Jitsu. These disciplines, which were mainly instructions for self defense, laid a path for me towards a deeper awareness of the body’s limitations and possibilities, as well as the subtle connections between body and mind.
I began studying yoga during rehabilitation from a spinal injury. Yoga, I found, created a path for me towards physical recovery and a better way of life. In 2010 I completed a 200-hour teacher training in Power Yoga, and in 2011 I received my 500-hour certification in Structural Yoga and Myofascial Therapy with David Vendetti. This exposure to myofascial therapy was formative for me, and it inspired me to study massage therapy myself. I studied at Cortiva Institute and became a licensed massage therapist in 2012. I am now a member of the AMTA and am practiced in Pranayama and Thai Massage, subtle energetic healing, self-hypnotization, Vipassana meditation, various myofascial modalities, and am Reiki-certified.
I use a variety of techniques in my sessions, though my particular expertise is in working to release adverse tension in the body, especially in areas that are particularly difficult to work with. Most of my sessions focus on releasing deeply held patterns of constriction, which allows for postural re-alignment, increased range-of-motion, and reduction of pain and stress.
